Journey to Naramata

The first thing I thought about this morning, when I awoke is “ I don’t have to catch a ferry”.  That’s because we left Vancouver Island last night and we slept over in Hope.  Our journey to Naramata will be an easy one. Check-in/registration is at 2.

Our Hope motel is unique.  Aptly named Swiss Chalet, it has Tyroleon motif –our little room has a fake fireplace, barnboard paneling, wainscotting in the bathroom, a giant bathtub and a very comfortable bed. Fake floral swags hang above the bed, the bedside table and the toilet.  It’s clean, it’s cozy and for the next hour or so, it’s home.  Our Swiss consierge is a Chinese Canadian – very friendly.  Last night as Doug signed in, he kept waving at me while I sat in the car .  Finally I realized he meant me and waved back.  Was he trying to determine if I was a Lady of the Night or was he simply displaying Swiss-Chinese fellowship.

A few hours later...

We have arrived!  After an carefree journey, we found Naramata and the Centre and checked in.  Coincidently, our little living space is right next door to the unit we had 22 years ago.  However, it is much improved, with up-to-date kitchenette, bright 3 piece bathroom and new carpeting.  We have had a refreshing swim, slipped out to the store for some beer, wine & coffee (all  liquids accounted for) and in a few minutes we will join the group for dinner in the Hall.

The spiritual leader is Janet Strambolopolus (related to George?).  We will have a community activity tonight and Monday breakfast at 7:45 sharp.  More details tomorrow...
